We had a great get together with my side of the family during the Labor Day weekend. Tim had just put up a new swing set for Lauren after spending 1.5 days on it. The kids spent most of the day in and around the new attraction. Annette and Amelia picked a total of three to four large plastic shopping bags full of ripe juicy lemons from the trees in the backyard. There was great food and conversation. And of course the kids got to squeeze the lemons and make lemonade.
Our end of summer vacation occured during Michaela's third week of school a few days after the Labor Day weekend. We took advantage of the great fares unfortunately only after school starts, so Michaela and Mariah both ended up missing two days of school. I think we managed to keep the vacation very frugal and fun. We pre-paid for discount restaurant certificates, used reward points for the hotel stay, and took advantage of AAA discounts for the car rental.
The beautiful lush greenery reminded me of the east coast. The no crabbing sign at the floating dock reminded when me of when my mom would take us to the local dock in Islip and we would go crabbing for blue crabs at the crack of dawn.
